Kristin's Wedding - May, 2010

I designed this gown for Kristin for her Spring wedding last year. Working with her was a delight - she was incredibly patient and easy going, and I think we were both pleased with the final product of her gown.

This dress is 100% Dutchess Satin silk and the linking is 100% China Silk. The top was draped, and the skirt is a-line, and I hand-made covered buttons for the back of the gown. The gown has a medium sized train, a sash at the waist (made out of the same Dutchess Satin silk). The fabric was cut on the bias which gave it more flow/drape and allowed it to hug the body nicely, without the extra bulk.

The veil is a simple floor-length piece to not distract from the details of the gown.

Welcome to Gaea Fashions

Welcome to Gaea Fashions blog, a fashion design company owned and run by Jeannie Johng-Nishikawa.

I studied design at American River College, and learned from my mom, the master. Design has always been in my heart, but I took a break from design to raise a family from 2005 to 2010, and I am now back into it and I am working on a collection for Fall/Winter 2011. Aside from my collection, I also do custom wedding gowns and alterations.

This blog will serve to chronicle some of my work and experiences for creating a bridal collection for this coming Fall/Winter wedding season.
